Antique Lighthouse Quilt with Julie Faulkner


Please join Quiltworx Certified Instructor Julie Faulkner in this 2-day class to make the Antique Lighthouse quilt

The Antique Lighthouse Quilt is constructed using three sections: Group J is comprised of (8) center diamonds; Group G is a pieced border added to the center diamonds to make a 32″ square, and Group B is an outer border added to the quilt centre.

Julie will help you successfully complete all sections and assemble the topper (32" square). Help can also be provided with colours/fabric choices. Please ask when registering for the class or contact Julie directly at

Antique Lighthouse ~ Supply List

Foundation Paper Piecing Supply List – must-haves:
 Template plastic (approximately 3” by 12”
 12" add-a-quarter ruler
 Scotch tape (in case you cut your foundations in the wrong place by mistake!)
 UHU or scotch brand washout fabric glue stick (fabric to paper)
 Scotch repositionable glue (paper to fabric)
 Flower pins
 5 Large Ziploc bag ~ for storing units/fabric sections
 Purple Thang
 High quality (50wt) cotton thread for piecing
 Box Large paper clips
 Glue Pen – e.g. Fons & Porter or Sewline (fabric to fabric)
General Supply List:
 Fabric and pattern (Antique Lighthouse JNQ00268P9)
 Sewing machine in good working order with a quarter-inch foot – please make sure you are comfortable with your machine prior to the class. – Don’t forget your power cables & attachments!
 Microtex Sharp Size 70/10 sewing machine needles
 Small iron and ironing pad (There will be irons and ironing boards available in the classroom. Use of individual irons will depend on the “load” on the electrical system).
 Medium size cutting board for foundation paper piecing. (Ideal –at least 21” to cut the full width of fabric)
 Approx. 6" by 12" ruler for trimming foundation units, and a larger 6” by 24” one.
 Small scissors
 Seam ripper ~ just in case…
 Rotary cutter and replacement blades

Pre Class Cutting Instructions (Prep)

Please pre-cut out your paper foundations – (NP744, NP745, NP817) – allow 1/8” excess paper around the outside lines when cutting. Place unit into appropriate bags as described below (note there will be extras of the papers)

Bag #1 – Unit J1 Papers and cutting templates

Bag #2 – Unit J2 Papers and cutting templates

Bag #G1 – Unit GL Papers & (1) each of TLS#2 & 4

Bag #G2 – Unit GR Papers & (1) each of TLS#2 & 4

Bag #G3 – TLS #1 & #5

More detailed fabric cutting instructions can be found on pages 6, 7, 10 & 11 of the pattern. Please go ahead and pre-cut your fabric to maximize sewing time in class. However, if new to this technique just cut fabric/papers as above and I can explain the details in class.
